History
1911   Kawahara Corporation (Osaka headquarters) opens a branch in Makassar on Celebes Island in the East Indies, controlled by the Holland.
1926   Kawahara Corporation separates overseas operations, Hirokata Ueda forms Kohyei Trading company.
1949 February Kohyei was founded in Shosen building in Kobe's Motomachi district to take advantage of renewed opportunities in civilian trade.
Capital was 2 million yen.
Hidehiko Tsuchihashi named President.
August Signed sole agent agreement with Sakai Chemical Industrial Co. (Agency No.1)
October Tokyo Branch founded.
1951 January Osaka branch founded.
December Increased capital to 5 million yen.
1952   Signed special agreement with DuPont to import synthetic rubber "neoprene" and began development of rubber chemical products import from the company.
1953 March Otaru branch founded.
August Increased capital to 8 million yen.
1954 May Increased capital to 10 million yen.
Signed agent agreement with Nitto Kasei Co.
Product Specification, Agency Contracts Era
1957   Ended handling of natural rubber, agricultural chemicals. Withdrew from commodity products focusing on synthetic rubber and resin, industrial chemicals, steelmaking materials.
1959   Celebrated 10-year anniversary as earnings grew amid economic expansion.
Relocated Otaru branch to Sapporo.
1960   Showa Neoprene Co.,Ltd. founded for domestic production of DuPont's product, Kohyei becomes a distribution agent.
May Increased capital to 20 million yen.
1961   Signed specialty and agency agreements with domestic makers to create a foothold as a trading company specializing in rubber and industrial chemicals.
1963 December Atsuhide Tsuchihashi named President.
1967 January Increased capital to 50 million yen.

1969 February Celebrated 20-year anniversary.
November Establishment of Nisshoku Schenectady Kagaku Inc., a joint venture between Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. and Schenectady Chemicals Inc.(USA)
December Schenectady Chemicals Inc.(USA) and Harima Kagaku form a Harima Schenectady Chemical joint venture.
Founded Harima Schenectady Kagaku, Inc.
Increased capital to 60 million yen.
1971 February Increased capital to 90 million yen.
1972 October Founded ZipperTubing (Japan) Ltd.
1974 November Sapporo branch is formed into a new company,Sapporo Kohyei Co.,Ltd.
December Increased capital to 100 million yen.
1976   Posted record sales on demand automotive and consumer AV electronics goods.
1978   Products of ZipperTubing (Japan) Ltd. used by automotive clients.
1979   Celebrated 30-year anniversary.
1981 February Formed a fully-owned subsidiary Kurinsuton Manufacturing Co.,Ltd.for domestic manufacturing of CleanStone outer wall detergent.
October Annual revenue reached 20 billion yen.
Split investment in Vernay Japan (currently Kohyei Kosan Co.,Ltd.) with Vernay Laboratories Inc.
1986 November Changed Vernay Japan name to Kohyei Kosan Co.,Ltd.
1987 November Moved headquarter sales department to Osaka, merged with Hanshin sales department.
1988 September Founded Kohyei Kohan Inc.,to handle manufacturing and processing of industrial rubber and resin products.

1989 February Celebrated 40-year anniversary.
December President Atsuhide Tsuchihashi named Chairman.

1991 October Annual revenue reached 32.8 billion yen. Beat previous record.
1995 April The headquarters building is destroyed in Hanshin Awaji earthquake, moved to its current location.
1996 December Mr. Hideo Kawano as Vice Chairmanbr> Mr. Noriyuki Shirai as President.
1998 December Founded HAN-YEI Inc. in Columbus, Ohio with Sakai Chemical Industrial Co.
1999 February Held a ceremony for 50-year anniversary.
Second Founding
2002 July Founded Kohyei-Zipper Hong Kong Ltd. in Hong Kong.
December Yoshihiko Tsuchihashi named President.
2003 November Bought chemical products operations of Yanase & Co., founded Function material division.
December Introduced operating officer system.
Founded Kohyei Trading Hong Kong Ltd. a fully-owned subsidiary.
2004 February Founded Kohyei Trading (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd. with Sakai Chemical Industrial Co. in Shanghai, China.
2005 November Restructured the company organization to include autonomous divisions.

December Founded KOHYEI TRADING(INDIA)PVT.LTD. in Chennai,India by joint investment with POLYHOSE INDIA PVT. LTD.
2013 January Through joint investment with BUENO Technology Co., Ltd., established BUENO KOHYEI CO., LTD. in Taiwan.
2014 September September: Changed trade name of KOHYEI TRADING (INDIA) PVT. LTD. to KOHYEI POLYMERS (INDIA) PVT. LTD.
December Equity participation in Ital Plastic Compounds Private Limited of India
2015 November Start of fourth medium-term management plan
2017 February Began operating Koharakagaku Toryo Co.LTD. as a group company.
