I work at the sales division of one of our affiliates ZipperTubbing (Japan) (ZTJ) marketing protective tubing used as EMI countermeasure for wiring mostly in consumer electronics.
EMI countermeasure products (gasket) are usually installed after the fact which means the orders for client products (TVs, mobile phones, etc) come right before the beginning of mass production, requiring a speedy response for each individual case. To avoid supply trouble we have to keep in constant close contact with our customer and distributors, be on top of all the details and consider the demand for our products.

When one of our new products got adopted by a major electronics maker, there were a lot of requests about the products specifications and properties. I was very patient in communicating with the customer and work together with our factory contacts (production and product control) to resolve all the issues. We got certified by the client and after that I had the confidence to take on new challenges. When an urgent call came from that same client in Kanagawa that a certain product needs to be delivered by 6 p.m., I was in Gunma prefecture but was able to liaise with our factory and get the goods delivered on time. The customer was very grateful.
Being able to cooperate like that with our manufacturer to fulfill our clients needs and build up the trust between us is an experience that stays in your memory.

The challenge lies in the fact that in one single job you have to think how to meet the client's need to the fullest extent while also considering factory end of things, developing product specs from scratch (type, size etc), supply the evaluation samples and documentations, and finally have the product adopted.

My modus operandi is "speedy, courteous and aggressive".
Because many of the products we handle are of post-production variety, the requests are often sudden and quick response is essential. When sending a sample for an urgent client request, the important part is the careful follow-through. By following our client's needs and understanding their situation we can maximize customer satisfaction.

Even junior employees can express their ideas to the senior managers and make decisions based on their own judgment, bringing a sense of responsibility and challenge. This company is the rare type where at the meetings one can speak one's mind and air one's opinions.
